Labradorite was discovered in Labradorite, Canada, and is said to contain the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) according to native Canadian tribal lore. There is a folk story where one of the ancestors broke through some rocks with a spear and set the lights free, but some remained in the stone and these were jewellery labradorite. There is a special word for the iridescence of labradorite and that is labradorescence. Today, labradorite is mined in many other places around the world.
These medium sized sterling silver earrings have faceted blue labradorite gemstone with a strong blue flash. A simple bezel enhances the gentle oblong cabochons, which measure approximately 32mm high (drop length) and are 12mm across at the widest point. Each earring has a long ear wire with a hook on the end, so it cannot fall out.
