Scenic dendritic agate is sometimes called ‘picture stone’ or ‘painted stone’. It can be translucent and has fern-like markings in it (known as ‘dendrites’ – these are made of iron and/or manganese). It is one of the rarer varieties of agate and the dendrites crystallise inside the agate, forming the organic plant shapes.
This gemstone pendant is set in 925 sterling silver and the scene is of a dark ferny plant, with fine detail and high contrast. The dendritic agate scene is visible in daylight but blends well on skin due to its semi-translucency. The oval pendant measures approximately 22mm from the top of the bail to the base and is 26mm across at the widest point. Ideal for adding to your gemstone jewellery collection.
