Citron chrysoprase (also known as lemon chrysoprase or lemon magnesite) is only found in one location - Western Australia. It is mined in a chrysoprase mine and is also found from the Goldfields region around Kalgoorlie. This gemstone is not actually chrysoprase, it is a silicified magnesite and the colour is formed by a porous magnesite absorbing nickel salts and ranges from pale yellow to lime green to pink. It is found in nodules. Magnesite is often mined to produce magnesium products such as Epsom salts or synthetic rubber, but lemon or citron chrysoprase is mined specifically for jewellery collectors and for use in carvings and ornaments as well as jewellery.
These citron chrysoprase earrings have a stunning pastel lime colour and are 100% natural gemstone. Carved into heart cabochons that are light to wear, these womens earrings are set in 925 sterling silver and are ideal as everyday earrings. The earrings measure approximately 34mm high (1.25” drop length) and are 15mm wide at the widest point. Each of the heart earrings has a handmade sterling silver fish hook earring wire.
