Citron chrysoprase (also known as lemon chrysoprase or lemon magnesite) is only found in one location - Western Australia. It is mined in a chrysoprase mine and is also found from the Goldfields region around Kalgoorlie. This gemstone is not actually chrysoprase, it is a silicified magnesite and the colour is formed by a porous magnesite absorbing nickel salts and ranges from pale yellow to lime green to pink. It is found in nodules. Magnesite is often mined to produce magnesium products such as Epsom salts or synthetic rubber, but lemon or citron chrysoprase is mined specifically for jewellery collectors and for use in carvings and ornaments as well as jewellery.
This sterling silver ring features a heart-shaped cabochon of natural Australian citron chrysoprase. There are some light veins and transparent sections displayed in the natural lime chrysoprase (yes, it really is the same colour as the photos!) and the gemstone ring has a straight band. Ideal for the chrysoprase jewellery collector and those who love heart jewelry.
